The BDM will contribute directly to achieving The Skills Centre’s business objectives by promoting its services and products.
Job Title: Business Development Manger
Responsible to: Group Commercial Director
Location: Roles available covering the UK North and UK South Regions. Responsible for a covering a Geographical area.
Salary: £45,000.00-£59,000.00 (plus discretionary agreed bonus)
Key Responsibilities:
Sales and Revenue Generation
- Lead the sales process from lead generation through to closing deals, ensuring sustained revenue growth.
- Develop and present tailored proposals, negotiate contracts, and finalise sales agreements.
- Track and report on sales performance, and contribute to the adjust of strategies as necessary to meet or exceed targets.
Client Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, building and maintaining strong, long-term relationships.
- Understand clients' needs and challenges to deliver bespoke training solutions that align with their business goals.
- Maintain regular communication with clients in line with set standards, to ensure high levels of satisfaction and identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling.
- Conduct regular client meetings, presentations, and training needs assessments to strengthen engagement and rapport.
Business Development
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the construction sector, focusing on both acquiring new clients and expanding services with existing ones.
- Execute a strategic sales plan designed to achieve sales targets and increase market share.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including training and operations, to ensure the delivery of high-quality services that meet client expectations.
Market Analysis and Strategy
- Conduct market research to identify trends, competitors, and emerging opportunities within the construction training sector.
- Execute and implement innovative strategies to differentiate The Skills Centre’s offerings and enhance competitive advantage.
- Provide feedback to the product development team to guide the creation of new training programmes aligned with client demand and industry trends.
Team Collaboration and Leadership
- Work closely with the Sales and Marketing teams to develop effective campaigns and materials that support business development efforts.
- Build relationships with Centre Managers to drive sales in regional areas, ensuring brand awareness through site-based visits and a strong local presence.
- Provide guidance and support to team members, sharing knowledge and expertise to help promote products and achieve success.
- Lead by example, demonstrating a commitment to excellence, ethical behaviour, and continuous improvement.
Reporting and Documentation
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions, sales activities, and contracts using CRM software.
- Prepare regular reports on client management activities, sales progress against KPIs/targets, and market insights for senior management.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and industry regulations.
Experience:
- Highly experienced within the construction industry.
- Proven track record of setting and achieving targets, with a strong ability to manage stakeholder relationships effectively.
- In-depth knowledge of the construction industry and evidence of professional development.
Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients.
- Ability to set and maintain Service Level Agreements.
- Strong negotiation and closing skills.
- Ability to think strategically and develop creative solutions to meet client needs.
- Proficiency in IT, particularly Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to analyse market trends and utilise data to drive decision-making.

Key Qualifications:
- Background in construction.
- Relevant in-date CSCS Card.
- Valid driving licence.
- NVQ Level 3+ trade qualification (desirable).
